Observing the Times

 Devotional

Tuesday January 04, 2025

Observing the Time ⏰

1Chr.12.32 - of the sons of Issachar who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, their chiefs were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their command;

God created everything with time. The unstopping tick-tock sound of a watch counting from seconds, to minutes, to hours, days to weeks, months to years, and years in decades, centuries, millennia etc exemplifies the importance of time in human existence. Every creation of God has its time frame. The time to begin, the time to end, from birth to death, good times and bad times, Eccl 3:1-15 states in detail the fact that everything under heaven has time and season to which the wise will pay attention.

Only a fool lives without the consciousness of time. Nothing exists without time. Every manufactured product has an expiry date, so every human experience good or bad has an expiry date. I remember a young man who did everything possible to amass so much wealth, built so many houses, with countless investments, that he thought in himself never to experience poverty anymore. He lived extravagantly and arrogantly, lavishing wealth and oppressing all his servants. He literally forgot he was an ordinary mortal. He lived like a god and forgot no amount of wealth could afford immortality.

When he thought he was just about beginning to enjoy life and merry he fell sick with an acute deadly disease that no doctor on earth could cure. He acquired the best physicians both orthodox and otherwise but no remedy. He was rather told to put his house in order because he was going to die in just a few days as his sickness had gone beyond any possible cure. This man was completely disappointed in himself and all the wealth. He looked and watched all his assets and wealth, crying bitterly saying, ‘so I will leave all these things just like that’.

This is exactly how it ends when men fail to pay attention to time. Make hay while the sun shines. Think and do what you have to when you can. When you celebrate your birthday, remember your death day. When you buy a new asset, remember it will soon be outdated. There is more to life than wealth and power. The disciples of Christ were concerned about the glory of the Temple but Christ called their attention to being watchful and observant for the time will come when no stone will stand on the other. The last days require us all to be watchful and not be carried away by the glamorous distractions, successes and celebrations here and there. These things are capable of clouding our minds from the consciousness that they are mere ephemeral that will fade away with time. Keep watch therefore, for you know not when the husbandman, the Lord and Master of time and chances will come and tell you it's time. In just a little while, He who is coming shall come, He will not delay. Watch!

Further Readings: Dan. 12:1-13; Matt. 24:1-20; Eccl.3.1-15.

Prayers:

Holy Spirit, give me wisdom to discern time and teach me to number my days. Use me to manifest Your power in my generation like the days of the Apostles. Help me to leave no stone unturned in my lifetime. I ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Holy Spirit of Truth

The Devotional Today

Monday February 03, 2025

The Holy Spirit of Truth

John.16.13 - However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

The place of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer is quite inevitable as we cannot withstand the powers and manipulation of the evil forces in the world on our own. He is the only antidote to the pervading menace of the lying spirit hovering over the present age. The presence of the Holy Spirit is as strong and available for as many who would ask the Father. Just as the last days are full of the deceiving spirits, so the Holy Spirit is very much here to fill the earth like the waters cover the sea.

The testimonies and unusual experience of the power of the Holy Spirit by some young believers at an Institution in Asbury a couple of years ago is a testament to the fact that the Holy Spirit is very much as active as ever. The power of God is still stronger and more effective than the power of the deceiving spirits. The devil only took one-third of the heavenly beings when he was shone the way out, which means God still has double of whatever spirit works in this world at our disposal. Many are ignorantly returning to idol worshipping, believing that the spirits of the gods of this world work faster than the Spirit of the Almighty. We are in a generation where idol worshipping is being revived among the youths. Many are back into barbaric practices and ritualism all because of money and fame. Many have turned to familiar spirits because of their challenges and problems. Whatever they seek there can be found and even more in Christ.

I make bold to encourage everyone following this devotional that God is still the all powerful, all knowing, and the ever present help only if we believe in Him. His Holy Spirit is still available and works wonders among His people if only we can wait on Him like the old times. God is still searching for vessels sanctified to carry His Presence if only we can make ourselves available for His glory. The last days are not only for the deceiving spirits, the promised Holy Spirit of Truth is also present to see us through the last days and its challenges. For the sons and daughters to prophesy and see vision and the old men to dream dreams, He is the Spirit of Truth sent from God to teach and enable as many that will abide in Him.

These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. 1 John.2.27

Further Readings: Joel 2:18-30; Acts 2: 1-40; Isa. 61:1-8; John 16:1-14.

Prayers:

Lord, send Your Holy Spirit to manifest Your power in our generation like the days of the Apostles. If you need a vessel for Your manifestation, Lord use me. I ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Deceiving Spirits. Sunday 02, 2025

The Deceiving spirits

1Tim.4.1 - Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons,

I once read the tales of two friends- Truth and Falsehood, who went to the stream to bathe. Falsehood did everything to subtly entice his friend into the river and then took his clothes, put them on, and left him alone naked in the water. The truth found himself lonely, helplessly naked and could not come out of the waters because of shame. When he eventually did, he became the object of ridicule and mockery by passers-by and couldn't live comfortably among his people anymore. Falsehood on the other hand goes about in truth's clothing, disguising and presenting himself as the truth. He became more popular and acceptable among the people. He smartly established himself in the society and became the sought after counselor.

This is the reality of what our society and the world has turned to. Truth is ashamed to speak in public places because many will not listen. He's even more embarrassed because when he manages to speak, he becomes the object of ridicule. The deceiving spirits are everywhere putting on the garment of truth and many are embracing his ways and loving it.

The endtime is a delicate period, referred to as perilous and hard times, when the love of many for righteousness will grow cold. Jesus said that it's a period when false spirits and false prophets will be prevalent. Many shall be deceived, even the very elects will not be left out. The truth has become an unwanted lunatic working around like a naked orphan, while falsehood is being packaged as a royalty, gaining prominence among all and sundry.

The same spirit deceived Eve in the beginning and still deceives men today. He is speaking and gaining ground everywhere, both in the secular world and in the religious circle. The truth of the word of God is available but tagged too boring and outdated by many. The worst part of this development is the fact that the house of God where the truth is supposed to prevail and be taught is becoming the centre of falsehood, extortion and deception. Men run to the Church to find the truth only to be subtly fed with lies of religion and false prophecies all for selfish gains.

The word of God is being replaced by many with human ideologies and ungodly traditions. Many are speaking their own minds and demonic doctrines in the name of God. The spirit of Ananias and Sapphira is firmly taking position right in God's temple. While some are delighted in listening to them, many are being lured because of their gullibility. Some are also genuinely hungry for the undiluted truth. We are indeed in a perilous time when it is getting more difficult to know who is who. The abomination that makes desolate is taking its position right in the Holy place- Matt. 24:15. This is the time for believers to be more watchful and wise in the spirit like Christ. Test every spirit- 1 JN. 4:1-3, study the word- 2 Tim. 2:15, know your God - Dan. 11:33, have a personal relationship with Him- Jn. 15:4-5. This is the only way to escape the trap of the deceiving spirits and their smart agents. Watch and pray.

Further Readings: Gen. 3:1-5; Isa. 6:1-13; 1 Tim. 4:1-12; Rom. 1:27-33

Prayers:

Lord, fill me with your Holy Spirit, the teacher of the Truth that I may discern and decipher the difference between Your Truth and the disguising lies of the enemy. This I ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

The Power of spirits, February 01, 2025

Devotional

Saturday, February 01, 2025

The Power of the spirits

1Tim.4.1 - Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons,

We live in a world permeated and ruled by spiritual forces. The Lord Himself is a Spirit- John 4:23-24, so is the man He created in His image also carries His breath- Gen. 2:7, a spirit. The world is ruled by spirits and is completely in control of all their affairs. Yes, right from the beginning of the world everything has been influenced by one spirit or the other. Whatever happens physically has firstly been processed and determined in the spiritual realm.

There are territorial spirits which determine and control the affairs of each environment and society. Every individual and people have spirits and powers by which their lives are channelled and covenanted knowingly or unknowingly. In short, the spiritual controls the physical both at the societal level, family and individual levels. Every group or organisation is connected and subjected to the influence of one unseen power or the other.

In Genesis, God, whose Spirit hovered around on the waters, created the universe ‘ex-nihilo’- out of nothing. He put His spirit in Man and commanded him to rule and take dominion over the earth and everything made both physical and spiritual. But the serpentine spirit confused the man to break the only rule he was asked to keep. And since then, Man’s spirit has been subjected to the influence of the wrong spirits, the prince of the world and the spiritual wickedness in high places. What you do most times is connected with the kind of spirit in you or the spirit that controls your environment- the territorial spirits. Your thoughts or ideologies, habits and customs, beliefs and traditions, limitations and liberty, successes and failures etc. Rom. 8:19-27.

Thanks to God for a swift intervention which gives man another chance to take his position in the realms of the spirits/gods through Jesus Christ- the son of man and the seed of the woman. Gen. 3:15. The Holy Spirit helps and strengthens us to navigate through the delicate stormy world. The other spirits manipulate and subject the creature to groaning and futility. Both of them abound and available to all. Whichever you submit yourself to becomes your master. Test every spirit to ascertain which one is working in and around you.

HAPPY NEW MONTH

Further Readings: Gen. 3:1-17; Psalm 8; 82; Rom. 8:19-27.

Prayers:

Oh Lord, the creator of all, guide, guard and preserve me from every spiritual manipulation and subtle craftiness of the wicked ones in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. Amen

Circle of Influence- Jan. 31 2025

Devotional

The Circle of Influences

Mark.7.19 - Since it does not reach and enter his heart but [only his] digestive tract, and so passes on [into the place designed to receive waste]? Thus He was making and declaring all foods [ceremonially] clean [that is, abolishing the ceremonial distinctions of the Levitical Law].

Further attention to Christ’s teaching on which makes a person unworthy to God,  the inward or the outward? I believe Jesus was talking here about food-  which goes to your stomach,  digests and excretes its wastes. Many people may have used this passage to justify their disposition to physical acts like dressing,  drinking,  smoking and many more acts that seem to be condemned by some evangelicals. As much as God indeed cares more about what comes from the heart, He's also aware the heart could be corrupted from without.

There are some outward acts that really matter, and can actually corrupt a man. In Mark 7:19, Jesus emphasizes that if what comes from outside doesn't affect the heart then,  it cannot make you a sinner.  That is to mean on the other hand, if whatever comes from outside has effects on your heart, it then can definitely make you a sinner. This is not just speaking about food, but also what you hear, watch or do.

There's no way you will watch pornographic pictures, songs or films that won't affect or become your thoughts.  It will undoubtedly lead to lustful desires and immoral acts- James 1:12-22.  You cannot be God's Nazirites- called, and consecrated vessel unto God, and live carelessly, Judges 13:1-5. You cannot keep bad company and not be influenced to follow their deeds. Your caucus will always Influence your ideologies. 1 Cor. 15:33.

The heart is developed by what its environment or carrier feeds it with and in turn produces accordingly.  Just like computer software programming,  garbage in, garbage out. Feed your heart with love, you make a loving person and loving society. Feed it with lust, it will produce promiscuity. Feed it with hatred and insecurity,  all you see is hatred, wickedness and violence.

Take away the wrong spirit and everything will be fine.  It's all about give and take. Feed yourself i. e. your heart with what you want to become. Positive things for positivity, and negative things produce nothing else but negativity. Feed your heart with the Word of Christ and you shall definitely become like Christ. But when you do otherwise, you cannot get anything else but the otherwise. Prune your circle of Influence.

Further Readings: Gen. 3:1-24; 1 John 2.9-17 ; Mark 7:1-23

Prayers:

I receive the grace and power to sow the seed of purity,  righteousness, peace and love in my heart that I may bear the fruit of the same. I pray in Jesus Christ’s name.  Amen

The Inwardly and the Outwardly

Devotional

Thursday, January 30, 2025

The Inwardly and the Outwardly

Mark.7.21 - 23- For from within, out of a person's heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, eagerness for lustful pleasure, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. All these vile things come from within; they are what defile you and make you unacceptable to God."

In today's text, Jesus reacted to the queries of the Pharisees about ceremonial cleansing, a tradition of the Jews which pays more attention to bodily cleansing at the expense of the spiritual. He emphasized the fact that the cleansing of the heart is more crucial than the physical cleansing. Because, the immoral and ungodly characters displayed by people are worse than eating without washing hands.

“Cleaningness is next to godliness”, a common statement everywhere but the dirtiness of your body cannot disapprove of you before God. That is why Christianity believes that the smell of the toilet doesn't hamper the presence of God, if that is the only place available to pray or meditate, you are good to go. This is not to justify physical dirtiness but that we should not be hypocritical about it.

There are a lot of connections between the Inward and the outward. The Inward controls the outward, and not the other way round. You are not a sinner because of what you eat once it has been Sanctified. This is lessening the burden of the law of dos and don'ts that pervade the religious atmosphere. Your heart matters to God more than your physical display of piety.

You can be pious and lustful or even adulterous at the same time. Men may judge you by your physical piety, but God knows and judges the inner lust as well. So, don't just wash the outside of the pot, keep the inside clean as well. Don't just protect your body from germs while you neglect the sanctity of your heart. Your hygienic principles must be both outwardly and inwardly.

Further Readings: Joel 2:12-18; Psalm 1; Mark 7:1-23

Prayers:

Oh gracious Lord, help me to overcome the dangers of religiosity and error of human principles which promote physical piety that mostly undermine God's ultimate desire for inner purification. I pray in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen

Guard Your Heart Vigilantly

Devotional

Guard Your Heart Vigilantly

Prov.4.23 - Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life. AMPV.

The heart of a man is the centre of his life both physically and spiritually. It is the place where decisions that can make or mar a life are made. You can only go as far as your heart can fathom.  Your thoughts and beliefs are the main reasons for life's limitations and progress. It is the place from where the spring of life flows, and needs all the care to avoid the effects of manipulative factors all around us. We all believe that the heart is the best decision maker when considering issues of personal interests,  so the general belief is to follow your heart when you're left alone. Yes! It is good to always follow one's heart but it's not always safe to do so.

I remember one of the best lines used by some boys to impress ladies of interest, “My mum always told me to follow my heart “. Sometimes your heart may lead you into everlasting pain if you  fail to be discreet with your heart desires. This is to say the heart of man is not strong or discreet enough to know or analyse issues maximally without the influence of other factors as discussed before.  If you feed your heart with error it will lead you in that direction passionately.  And if you do otherwise, so the result.

The heart is originally pure and unblemished,  but external influences like what you watch, listens to, or read could help it develop creatively and productively but could also bring stains,  pains, regrets,  guilt,  grief,  envy, malice and all such the result of which could be disastrous. These are few of the dangerous feelings that can source from it if not vigilantly guarded.

To get the best out of your life, pay attention and diligently control what gains access to your heart.  When you understand the importance of your cognitive capability,  you will know why efforts have to be taken seriously to control what you feed your minds with. You must protect it jealously, process and sieve what you hear, what you read and what you see. Do not feed your heart with junks, corruption, worldliness and sin. Make wisdom you  best friend, study the word of Christ and let Him dwell richly in you.

Eph.5.18 - Don't be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, let the Holy Spirit fill and control you.

Further Readings: Prov.  4:1-23; Eph. 1:11-14; Matt 12:33-45

Prayers:

Oh Lord, give me Your grace,  sufficient to gaurd my heart against all evil manipulation of darkness. Preserve my mind and spirit jealously from every evil imagination that it may yeild the fruits of everlasting  life. I ask through Jesus Christ our Lord and Redeemer.  Amen

There are Two Masters

Devotional

Tuesday, January 28, 2025

There are Two Masters

2Pet.2.19 - While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage.

God created us pure and innocent souls. We develop into whatever we are today in the course of time. No child is bone perfect or evil. We are all influenced by our environment, people, and most importantly our spiritual exposures. Our nature and temperament are equipped in time by these and other factors. The book “Why You Act the Way You Do ” by Tim Lahaye was an eye opening novel for me growing up. To identify the reason I am who I am, my natural weaknesses and strengths and most importantly the spiritual forces surrounding our mentality and thoughts.

In today's devotional, we focus on the influences of the spiritual forces or powers dominating our hearts. No human heart is empty per se. Our thought life is designed to work 24/7. Just like the biological heart never stops breathing, so the mind never stops thinking. Even when we’re asleep, our mind, soul or spirit continue to function. This explains why we dream and engage in so many activities while physically inactive. Many of the things we see in our dreams are mostly connected with what we're thinking about. A fearful heart will always have nightmares which most times make the real life's experience also like a nightmare.

We are what we think. Whoever or whatever you allow to rule over your thoughts determines your character, temperament and experiences. Rom.6.16 - Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? There are two Masters competing for dominance in every man's heart. The force of evil and good, the force of darkness and light; whichever of them you allow to dominate your thoughts becomes your Lord and Master.

Further Readings: 2 Pet. 2:1-22; Rom 6:16-18; Psalm 10:1-18

Prayers:

Lord, I give you the ownership of my heart and thoughts, fill me with your Holy Spirit that I may exhibit the reality of Your character in all aspects of my life, I ask through Jesus Christ our Lord and Redeemer. Amen

Battle of the Heart

Devotional

Monday, January 27, 2025

Battle of the Heart

Prov.23.7 - For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. "Eat and drink!" He says to you, But his heart is not with you.

We are going to focus on the heart as the main field of life's activities and centre of spiritual welfare and the control room of all realities. The physical is without doubt controlled by the spiritual. Everything a man does outwardly is controlled from within. For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks…Matt. 12:34. Jesus further emphasizes this in Luke.6.45 - A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

We are what we think. We are products of our thoughts. The good, the bad, the beautiful, the ugly, the success, the failures, the blessings, the curse, the love, the hatred, the truth, the lies, the peace, the conflicts, the arguments, the agreements, the praises, the insults, the Joy, the sorrow, the supports, the oppositions, the friendship, the enmity and so on, all comes from the heart. No wonder God said, men look at the countenance but God sees the heart. 1 Sam. 16:17.

Just as the heart situation of every man matters to God, so it is to the devil. Whoever controls your heart controls your life. A heart ruled by self will is subject to manipulation by the devil, this produces nothing else but sin, wickedness, and ungodliness. But when Christ found an abode within you, He refines it to yield fruits of righteousness, Peace and eternal Joy. For any man to overcome this battle within, he must surrender to Christ as the Lord and controller of his thoughts, then can such bear fruits that are pleasant and nourishing.

Rev.3.20 - Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Further Readings: 2 Cor. 10: 2-7; Jer. 17:5-14; Matt. 5:20-30

Prayers:

Lord, I give you the ownership of my heart and thoughts, fill me with truth, righteousness, peace and joy of your Holy Spirit. Help me to fight all battles within that I may live peaceably without, I ask In Jesus' mighty name. Amen

The Sower Should Reap First

The Sower Should Reap First

2Tim.2.6 - The hardworking farmer must be first to partake of the crops.

The greatest misfortune anyone can experience is to miss the blessings and rewards of waiting. I heard a pathetic story of a lady, the only child of a widow, who was trained single handedly by her mother out of a series of challenging experiences from childhood to maturity. The mother laboured, toiled day and night to give this girl the best of Education from Primary school to the University level, with the hope that she will in turn take very good care of her mother at old age. After a successful University Education, she graduated with first class honours and was the overall best student of her set, but unfortunately died in an auto crash on her convocation day.

After many years of toiling, working hard and waiting for harvest, the joy of all is to be alive, available, hale and healthy when the results of the long years of waiting and expectations eventually come. This is the reason for watchfulness and consistent prayers for divine grace and preservation, that one will not be found wanting at the season of harvest. -Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is. Mark.13.33

We need personal discipline and determination not to quit before our season of victory. We need God’s grace to keep us strong when our flesh can no longer carry on. We need divine defence against evil attacks, against the merchandise of darkness sent to steal, to terminate or manipulate and to destroy before or in time of harvest.

Harvest season is the most important season for any farmer or labourer. You work and toil done in pain and sorrows, hoping that sooner than later, the season of joyful harvest will come with abundance of blessings. This should not be the season anyone would be found wanting for whatever reason.

Further Readings: Isa. 65: 8-25; Psalm 126; 2 Tim. 2:1-16

Prayers:

Say this prayers:

I declare by faith in the name of Jesus Christ. I shall not die before the time of my miracle. I shall not be lost at the time of harvest. I will reap the reward of all my labour, I will not invest my sweat in futility. I will not labour for another to eat. The Lord of the heavens will keep my harvest from every devourer and satisfy me with everlasting joy and peace. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

When the Wait Gets too Long

Devotional

Saturday, January 25, 2025

When the wait gets too long

Prov.13.12 - Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire is fulfilled, it is a tree of life.

Most of us get tired of waiting upon God after a few minutes or hours of prayers. Honestly, no one is immune to frustration when answers to prayers are delayed beyond usual. The ten Virgins all slept off because of the weariness of their long waiting for the bridegroom. The fact that five of them were tagged wise and other five tagged foolish had nothing to do with their strength to stay up late for the Lord. But because they had extra oil which was more about divine grace and strength. Humanly speaking, when hope defers, the heart gets sick.

No one knows how long God's time could take, but God expects men to travail and wait before Him until they prevail. If it takes days, months or years, keep waiting until you receive answers. The time frame between Ascension and Pentecost was about 10 days, which means the Apostles spent 10 days and nights in the upper room before the Spirit of Pentecost came. Elisha journeyed many miles, from one city to another, across the rivers, mountains and valleys until he caught double portions of power. Because it's in Him that we receive grace upon grace. It takes great grace to wait in some cases.

How do you handle the waiting experience of a couple married for years and sometimes decades without a child? Being tempted and tried in various degrees, pressures and ridiculous comments from family, friends and foes. It would have been frustrating and depressing. They would have been given several alternatives and even considered giving up on God. It would be natural and normal for such to consider other options at a point. But God’s grace is required to overcome the worries, cast it all on Him and wait until desires are fulfilled.

Further Readings: 1 Sam. 1:1-28; 1 Cor. 2:1-16; Phil. 4:4-9; Matt. 25:1-14

Prayers:

May we obtain that sufficient grace to wait patiently through the tempting, rough and crooked seasons of expectations and weariness, until God’s designed season of praise and fulfillment of promises. In Jesus’ name I ask. Amen

A Place of Fortification

Daily Devotional

Friday January 24, 2025

A Place of Fortification

Luke.24.49 - Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high."

Being fortified with power from above is a major reason for waiting. The waiting room is a place of nourishment and empowerment for success. We are  being fed with the sincere milk like babies, we eat the spiritual manner like the Israelites in the wilderness,  the bread baked on a coal like Elijah- the strength of which sustained him for forty days. Isa. 40:28-31.

When you surrender your all to Him and learn to connect and align rightly with His purpose for Your life, He is set to fight your battles and enable you to do your part.

He will guard the feet of His saints, But the wicked shall be silent in darkness. "For by strength no man shall prevail- The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken in pieces; From heaven He will thunder against them. The LORD will judge the ends of the earth. "He will give strength to His king, And exalt the horn of His anointed." 1Sam.2. 9-10.

The waiting experience is until we receive Grace and Power from above to move mountains, withstand the wiles and craftiness of the wicked, Zech.4.6-7. We also receive power and direction to witness His Love and testify of His saving grace To the ends of the Earth. Without this complete Fortification we can do nothing. We do not have the capacity to withstand the challenges of Life on our own. But with Him on our side, victory is sure.

Jesus said to the disciples after their inability to cure the epileptic boy in Matt.17.20 - 21 “... for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, "Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting."

Faith and anointing for exploits can only come when we wait long enough before Him. The same disciples that failed in the passage  above became the miracle workers after the Pentecost experience Acts 3. This can be our experience too, if only we can tarry long enough for divine Fortification. Acts 2:38-39.

Further Readings: Isa. 40: 28-31; Zech.4.1-14 ; Luke 24: 41-53; Acts 2:1-21,38-47.

Prayers:

Lord, I wait on You. Give me strength and sufficient Grace to run my life's race without fainting.  Keep me strong to the very end in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

The Waiting Waiting Room

 Sunday January 19, 2025

                                             Wait on Him! Just Wait…

Ps.27.14 - Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!

One of the most difficult exercises for humans is waiting. Especially, when other options and distractions abound, available and enticing. You feel like why not explore the available when the desirable isn't forthcoming. The pressure of life coming from within and without are enough to derail us from waiting for God's appointed time. So many believers have missed their appointed time, lost their opportunities and blessings all because they couldn't ‘just wait’. Job.14.14 - If a man dies, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change comes.

Impatience is a great disease capable of ruining one's entire life and purpose. The Lord specifically called my attention to this in a revelation. I was looking to purchase candles of various sizes at a closed Market that looks like a Trade Fair. On entering the Market, it was mostly scanty and no candle merchants on ground. While still hoping to approach the organisers for information, I saw a space-car loaded with various colours of candles. I was happy, but I heard a question in my mind whether I was actually looking for colours or sizes. Yes, what I needed were plain-coloured candles of different sizes. So, I knew that wasn't what I wanted.

Before I could approach the organisers, I saw them disapproving of the materials and sent the merchant out of the market. They assured me I was going to get what I wanted, but I would have to wait along with others in the waiting room. On getting to the waiting room, I met a crowd of people, already worried and agitated because they had been waiting for a while. Seeing them worried and disturbed and some wanting to leave the waiting room for other options. I heard the voice in my spirit to encourage them to wait, for surely they were going to get what they wanted. This was what I was doing when I woke up.

I feel this is a message to all believers who have been waiting upon God for one thing or the other. It might have taken so long that you feel like patronising other options available. I encourage you to wait upon God a little more for as long as you are still breathing. Do not take a no for an answer. And don't mistake a delay for a no. He is too faithful to fail. He has everything you need in abundance and will not leave you wanton. The fact that you're not having it now doesn't mean you won't.

The waiting season is a period for learning and preparation. Invest it in understanding more about yourself and knowing God better. Build a relationship with God and other brethren in the waiting room- the Church. We are to encourage one another to wait until the answers come. Trust in the Lord and believe. The goods (blessings and expectations) will soon be available for us all. Don't be in haste to get out of the waiting room- the presence of God- Eccl. 8:3. There are counterfeits readily available out there and very cheap. Don't buy them. God has the original and it's even free of charge. It will soon and surely be available. Just wait…!

Prayers:

Oh Lord my God, help me in this chaotic world where everyone seems to be in a hurry for complex reasons. Give me the strength to wait patiently until my blessings arrive. I pray in Jesus Christ's name. Amen

Get Ready

1Kgs.18.41 - Then Elijah said to Ahab, "Go up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of abundance of rain."

The waiting room is a place of faith, preparation and expectations. A place where you call things that are not as though they were- Rom. 4:17. It's the place of hope and faith. When we find ourselves in the waiting room, God expects us to believe in nothing else but possibilities. It's not the time to complain and doubt. Many stay longer than necessary in the waiting room because they fail to believe, stay positive and get ready for answers.

Waiting upon God requires that you trust Him completely that He is able to do exceedingly above all that you could ever ask or think. He has everything you need in His custody. And when He promises, just prepare to celebrate. He is ‘Professor Talk and Do’. In 1 kgs 18. Elijah told kind Ahab to celebrate, eat, drink and relax cause he already heard the sound of abundance of rain. Ahab, despite being an unbelieving king, believed the Prophet of God. He went ahead to eat and drink while Elijah went to pray. The scripture says,

“…Believe the Lord your God and you shall be established, believe His prophet and you shall prosper” 2Chr.20.20.

So many of us have received clear revelations of what God is about to do in our lives but instead of believing and getting prepared for answers some still entertain the lies and deceptions of Satan. Bringing doubts and prolonging your wilderness experience. The waiting room is a place for you to prepare your heart for the abundance of rain. Do not worry any longer, rather praise God and celebrate your miracles ahead. For surely there is the sound of abundance of blessings. Get Ready!

Further Readings: 1 Kings 18: 41-46; 2 Chro. 20: 1-30; Phil. 4:4-6

Prayers:

Lord, help me to prepare myself for what You are about to do in my life. I cast all my cares upon You my Lord. Dissolve all my doubts and fears. Help me to stop worrying but to trust and praise you instead, I pray in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen

Build Relationships

Prov.27.17 - As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.

The waiting room is never really a lonely place, though it appears so most times. Your experience and human limitations might make it look like you are the only one with a problem or challenge in the whole world.  This is  the reason for depression and suicidal thoughts. The mind will be so clouded in distress that we couldn't see other people praying to have the little you think isn't enough for you.

Prophet Elijah after a successful demonstration of God's powers among the Israelites and before king Ahab- an extraordinary manifestation of God through him - A great challenge to prophets of every generation, still felt alone when Jezebel came threatening. He was frustrated to the extent that he ran for his life seeking to die. 1kgs. 19.

But if you look carefully,  you will realise like God told Elijah,  there are thousands others in your shoes. And when you do,  you'll realise your case is not the worst. Yes, your experience is your strength to comfort, mentor and build others for God's purpose.

2Cor.1.4 - who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

The waiting room is a place to identify like minds, fuse together as partners.  Encourage one another from being frustrated to becoming mighty men of valour like David and his heroes. Turn your challenges to championship,  your misery to ministry,  your pain to gain. Transform your horrible stories to glorious testimonies.

Don't let your problems ostracise you.  Make friends,  rejoice with those who are rejoicing, mourn with those who are mourning, fellowship with other believers,  attend seminars and help others the best way you can. Thank God for your past victories rather than mourning your past failures. Stop focusing on yourself alone,  think more about what you can do for God and for others' benefit.  Your victory most times lies in these. Be strong!

Prayers:

Lord, help me to break out of the shell of my challenges. Help me to see solutions in helping others the little way I can. Give me grace to transform my challenges to problem solving strategies in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen

Connect with the Lord

Deut.10.12 - And now, O Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

The waiting room is a place of connection and networking. While preparing for answers and waiting for time, God wants us to do some more important things. These things are the reasons for the waiting experience. Yesterday, I shared the importance of building a network of relationships with people of like minds. That is the horizontal relationship with men.

The second is the vertical relationship with God, the source of grace and abundance- connecting with the Helper Himself. The Lord could have taken Israel through a shorter route to the promised land. But the wilderness experience is to fulfill a purpose. The same wilderness experience is the waiting room where God is expecting us to build our relationship with Him, to obey and follow His instructions. To Connect and open up our spiritual channels to the Divine transmitter. Beyond what you are seeking and praying for, He desires your attention. He wants you to understand the privilege to connect with Him, which is the best gift you could ever have, a gift money can't buy. Isa. 55:1-3.

The waiting position is a place to seek Him, to establish a lasting Communion with God through The Word and prayers. A place to channel your spiritual antenna, to open up to the Divine for clear and uninterrupted transmission of the Kingdom mysteries. He is not just willing to give us the gifts we request, but wants to give us Himself to make known the secret of the Kingdom to those who can tarry enough before him. 1Cor. 2:9-12. Therefore, the experience of the waiting room is because He wants to teach us to seek Him - the Giver more than the gifts. Don't leave until you are connected.

Further Readings: 1 Sam. 1:1-28; 1 Cor. 2:1-16; Zach. 4:1-14;

Prayers:

I seek the giver not just the gift. Lord, help me to seek until I find You. Help me to wait long enough until I am connected with your great power for exploits.I pray in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen

Understanding His Will

Understanding His Will

Eph.5.17 - Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

Beyond what you think you need, there's what God knows is more needed for us all. Waiting on God involves learning to communicate with Him in prayers and listening to Him through thorough study of His word. He wants us to understand the nitty gritty of what He's about to deliver to us and whether there's something more in His mind for us. Waiting experience requires that you surrender yourself to Him completely, submit to His instructions, serve with total humility to His will, be lost in Him and allow him to take all the glory when the answers eventually come. The waiting room is a place of crucifixion. Crucifying the flesh and being renewed in the inner man.

It is not the blessings we receive from Him that matters but the ability to understand that He wants to build a permanent abode with us. His primary aim for creating, calling and paying the prize for our salvation and all our needs is that we might remain with Him and do as He commands. He doesn't want us to come once and never again. He wants us to keep coming and depend on Him absolutely without hurting our ego or disrupting our independence and freedom of choice.

So, it is not all about what we need or pray for but what He wants us to understand and do for Him. The purpose He made us. Jer. 29:11-14. Make the best of your waiting experience to find God, His salvation, understanding, knowledge, wisdom and build a lasting relationship with Him. Give His Spirit a permanent place in your heart, He is the secret to discerning what His will is. And also to understand that He wants you to dedicate yourself and your gifts to His praise and glory.

Further Readings: 1 Kings 3:3-15; Prov. 4:1-9; John 15:1-11

Prayers:

Oh gracious Lord, help me to understand all You want me to know and have so as to maximize my time in Your presence and your blessings when they eventually come. I pray in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen
