Spiritual Sensitivity and the Burden of the Called
📖 “O Lord, you deceived me, and I was deceived; you overpowered me and prevailed. I am ridiculed all day long; everyone mocks me… But if I say, ‘I will not mention His word or speak anymore in His name,’ His word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.” – Jeremiah 20:7, 9
Devotional Insight
One of the marks of the truly anointed is spiritual sensitivity. When God sets you apart, you begin to feel what others ignore. You discern burdens, perceive spiritual battles, and sometimes carry the weight of destinies beyond your own.
Jeremiah experienced this. He tried to quit because of rejection and ridicule, but the burden of God’s word burned so strongly within him that he could not remain silent. This is the reality of many prayerful and holy believers: your sensitivity makes you weep over things others laugh at, pray over things others ignore, and groan under spiritual weights others don’t feel.
This burden is not a curse but a gift. It is proof that you are aligned with God’s heart. However, it often makes you misunderstood, rejected, or even lonely. People may not grasp why you are so intense about holiness, prayer, or the things of God.
Beloved, do not despise your burden. It is your divine assignment. That fire in your bones is what makes you a vessel of God’s purpose in your generation.
Faith Declaration
I am chosen to carry the burden of the Lord. His fire burns in my bones, and I cannot remain silent. My spiritual sensitivity is a gift, not a curse.
Prayer Focus
Lord, help me to embrace the burden of my calling with joy. Strengthen me when I feel weary or misunderstood. Let Your fire in me never go out.
Action Step
Spend some quiet time today asking God: “What specific burden have You given me to carry in this season?” Write it down and commit it to consistent prayer.
Reflection Question
Do I see my spiritual sensitivity as a weight or as a divine responsibility? How can I guard the fire within me so it never burns out?
