Hunger for God
Day 9: Hunger for God
Theme Scripture
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.”
— Matthew 5:6 (NKJV)
Exposition
Every true revival begins with a deep, unrelenting hunger for God. Hunger is the proof of life. When your spiritual appetite fades, it’s a sign that something is wrong within. God fills only the hungry — those who long, crave, and yearn for His presence above all else.
Jesus declared, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness…” It is not enough to be curious about God; we must be desperate for Him. Spiritual hunger moves heaven. It stirs the heart to prayer, to fasting, to worship, and to obedience. It drives us to seek God not for what He gives but for who He is.
In the history of revivals, hunger has always preceded the outpouring. The early disciples were told to wait in Jerusalem until they were endued with power from on high — and they waited in one accord, in prayer, in expectation. Then came Pentecost.
When your hunger for God becomes greater than your comfort, convenience, or reputation, the Spirit of revival begins to flow. Hunger breaks routine religion. It births intimacy. It attracts the supernatural.
Don’t settle for a casual relationship with God. Cry out daily, “Lord, increase my hunger for You!”
