Episode 18 – The Door of Gold
The offer from the wealthy businessman lingered in David’s mind. Every time he looked at Mama’s thin frame or the peeling walls of their home, temptation whispered:
“Think of the comfort. Think of the influence. This must be God’s provision.”
Days turned to weeks, and the pressure mounted. The man grew impatient, calling often.
“David, opportunities don’t wait forever. If you want to change the world, you must step into the spotlight now.”
David’s heart was torn. Wasn’t influence what God wanted for him? Didn’t Joseph rise to a palace? Didn’t Daniel serve in a king’s court? Yet something about the haste and glitter felt… wrong.
One night, as he wrestled in prayer, he fell asleep by his open Bible. And there, the vision returned.
He stood again in the waiting hall, but this time two doors appeared before him. One was covered in gold, dazzling so brightly it nearly blinded him. The other was plain wood, weathered and unimpressive. Crowds rushed toward the golden door, voices cheering:
“Here is success! Here is fame! Here is ease!”
The plain door stood quiet, unnoticed, almost hidden. Yet as David looked closer, he saw faint engravings on it—a cross.
The voice came, firm and clear:
“One door shines for a moment and leads to emptiness. The other looks small but opens to eternity. Choose.”
David wept in the dream, torn between the cry of his belly and the call of his spirit. Finally, he fell to his knees, whispering, “Lord, I choose Your cross, even if it means obscurity. Lead me through the plain door.”
At once, the golden door crumbled into dust, and the wooden door burst open—not with glamour, but with a flood of living light.
He awoke shaking, tears streaming down his face. The decision was clear.
The next day, he called the businessman and said firmly,
“Sir, I thank you for your offer. But my calling is not for sale. I will walk through only the doors God Himself opens.”
Silence hung on the line. Then a cold laugh. “You’re a fool, David. You’ll die poor.”
Maybe. But in that moment, David felt richer than ever before. He had chosen rightly.

📖 Scripture Echo:
“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. But the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” —Matthew 7:13–14
