Repentance That Restores
Day 11: Repentance That Restores
Theme Scripture
“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.”
— Acts 3:19 (NKJV)
Exposition
Every true revival begins at the altar of repentance. Without repentance, there can be no restoration; without restoration, there can be no refreshing. Repentance is more than saying, “I’m sorry.” It is a heartfelt turning away from sin and a decisive turning toward God.
In Acts 3:19, Peter preached to the people of Jerusalem, urging them to repent so that “times of refreshing” could come. The refreshing he spoke of was not emotional relief—it was the outpouring of the Holy Spirit’s power that renews and revives the soul.
Repentance clears the way for revival. When sin clogs the channel between man and God, His power cannot flow freely. But when we humble ourselves, confess, and forsake our sins, the Spirit breathes new life into our hearts.
Throughout history, every revival—whether in the days of Jonah in Nineveh, Josiah in Judah, or the Welsh Revival—was preceded by deep repentance. People wept over sin, broke away from compromise, and sought the Lord with pure hearts. That same call echoes today: “Repent and be converted.”
True repentance is not a one-time event; it’s a continual posture of humility before God. Each time we are corrected by His Spirit and return to His way, He restores joy, strength, and communion. Repentance doesn’t condemn—it cleanses. It doesn’t shame—it saves.
If you desire revival, begin by allowing the Holy Spirit to search your heart. Let Him expose every hidden attitude, every compromise, and every sin that has dulled your spiritual fire. Then come boldly before the throne of grace—and watch the floodgates of refreshing open again.
