When You Feel Unqualified
Sincere Milk Devotional — July 5
Theme: When You Feel Unqualified
Scripture: Exodus 4:10–12
"Moses said to the Lord, 'Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent... I am slow of speech and tongue.' The Lord said to him, 'Who gave human beings their mouths?... Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.'" (NIV)
Reflection
One of the greatest obstacles to fulfilling God's purpose is not a lack of ability but a lack of confidence in His ability.
When God called Moses to lead Israel out of Egypt, Moses immediately focused on his weaknesses. He saw his limitations, but God saw His own power at work through a willing servant. Moses believed his shortcomings disqualified him; God reminded him that the One who created him would also equip him.
How often do we respond like Moses? We tell ourselves, "I'm not experienced enough," "I'm not gifted enough," or "Someone else could do it better." Yet throughout Scripture, God consistently chooses ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary purposes—not because they are exceptional, but because He is.
God does not call the qualified; He qualifies those who answer His call. He is not looking for flawless people but for faithful hearts.
If God has placed an assignment before you, do not allow insecurity to silence your obedience. The One who calls you is the One who walks with you, strengthens you, and provides everything you need to fulfill His purpose.
Your weakness is not the end of the story. It is often the place where God's strength is most clearly displayed.
Application
- Identify one area where fear or insecurity has been holding you back.
- Pray for courage to take one step of obedience today.
- Stop comparing your gifts with those of others.
- Trust God's presence more than your own abilities.
Prayer
Father, thank You for choosing imperfect people to accomplish Your perfect will. Forgive me for focusing on my limitations instead of Your power. Fill me with courage to obey Your calling, knowing that You will equip me for every good work. Help me to rely on Your strength rather than my own. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Thought for the Day: God's calling is always greater than your limitations.
Midnight Reflections — July 5
The Courage to Say "Yes"
Many opportunities from God arrive disguised as impossibilities.
When we look only at ourselves, we see reasons to hesitate. We remember our failures, our weaknesses, and the times we fell short. But God does not ask us to carry His calling by our own strength. He asks us to trust Him.
Every significant journey in Scripture began with someone saying "yes" before knowing exactly how everything would unfold. Abraham left his homeland. Moses stood before Pharaoh. The disciples left their nets. None of them had all the answers, but they trusted the One who called them.
Perhaps tonight, God is not asking you to have every detail figured out. Perhaps He is simply asking for your willingness.
The future belongs to God. Your responsibility is faithfulness.
As you close your eyes tonight, release the need to be perfect. Rest in the confidence that God's grace is sufficient for every assignment He entrusts to you.
Closing Prayer
Lord, I surrender my fears and insecurities to You. Give me the courage to say "yes" to Your will, even when I cannot see the whole path ahead. Let my confidence rest in Your faithfulness and not in my own abilities. As I sleep tonight, remind me that You are preparing me for all You have called me to do. Amen.
Closing Thought: God is not looking for perfect people—He is looking for willing hearts.
