Title: The Breastplate of Righteousness – Guarding Your Heart

Scripture:
“Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness.” – Ephesians 6:14 (NKJV)

Devotional Thought:
Today, we will continue to the second Armour as stated by Paul- The Breastplate of Righteousness. The breastplate in a soldier’s armor that protects vital organs—especially the heart. In spiritual warfare, the Breastplate of Righteousness guards our hearts from condemnation, deception, and the accusations of the enemy. 

The word of God enjoined us to guard our hearts with all diligence- This implies in a way that we should strive to live righteously as righteousness is the shield with which we guard our hearts. 

This righteousness is not our own. It is the righteousness of Christ, imputed to us by faith (Philippians 3:9). When we put on this breastplate, we’re choosing to live out that righteousness daily—walking in purity, integrity, and obedience. Not only are we protected, but we become a shining testimony in a world darkened by sin.

Without the breastplate, our hearts are exposed to attack. But when clothed in Christ’s righteousness, we can stand boldly and securely. No weapon formed against the righteous can prosper, but the way of the wicked shall perish. 

Reflection:
Have I allowed guilt or shame to leave my heart vulnerable? Am I actively walking in righteousness today?

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for covering me with Your righteousness. Help me to walk uprightly and guard my heart against the lies of the enemy. May my life reflect Your holiness and draw others to You. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
