🌙 Midnight Call Reflection – September 15, 2025
Beloved, as we step into this midnight hour, the world’s headlines remind us of a sobering truth: creation groans, nations shake, but the Word of God stands firm.
Nigeria records easing inflation, yet millions still struggle under the weight of poverty. Doctors suspend their strike, but hospitals remain overwhelmed. Power grids collapse, and crude oil theft continues to challenge integrity in governance. These are signs that human systems, no matter how strong, cannot sustain us without righteousness. The Psalmist declared: “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain that build it” (Psalm 127:1).
Across Africa, South Sudan’s floods have displaced over 100,000, reminding us of Noah’s days—how fragile life can be when waters rise. In Burkina Faso, borders open to all Africans without visa fees, a glimpse of unity that echoes God’s heart for a people without walls. Yet in places like Sudan and Congo, war and disease rage, echoing Christ’s warning: “Nation will rise against nation… there will be famines and pestilences” (Luke 21:10–11).
Religious news brings us both grief and hope. In China, house churches are raided, Bibles confiscated, and believers detained. Yet history shows that persecution never kills the Church—it only makes her shine brighter. The Cross still towers above all suffering. The words of Christ remain true: “I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18).
Even in sports, we saw lessons for life. Duplantis soared to a world record in pole vault, while Nigeria’s athletes fought with perseverance on the track. These remind us of Hebrews 12:1—“Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus.”
So, what is the midnight call tonight? It is a trumpet of watchfulness and hope. Look beyond the news, beyond the grief, beyond the shaking. Fix your eyes on the eternal kingdom where no flood, no inflation, no persecution, and no war can shake what God has established.
🌿 Prayer:
“Lord, in a world of floods, protests, and persecution, anchor me in Your Word. Help me to live watchfully, to stand boldly for Christ, and to walk in hope. May my life be a witness of the unshakable kingdom, until You come again. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
