The Anointing Attracts Opposition

 The Anointing Attracts Opposition

📖 Scripture Focus:
“And Saul eyed David from that day forward.” – 1 Samuel 18:9

Devotional Thought

One of the paradoxes of being truly anointed is this: the grace that makes men love you will also stir others to hate you. David was celebrated after killing Goliath, yet the very anointing that made him victorious became the reason Saul envied him.

The truth is that the anointing carries weight, and not everyone can handle it. Some will celebrate you, while others will feel threatened by you. Joseph’s brothers hated him because of his dream (Genesis 37:5). The Pharisees plotted against Jesus because of His miracles (John 11:47–48). Paul was beaten and imprisoned because of the gospel he carried (Acts 16:22–24).

Beloved, opposition is proof that you are carrying something valuable. If your presence provokes envy, misunderstanding, or resistance, it is not always because you are wrong—but because the oil upon your life is shining too brightly for darkness to ignore.

The enemy doesn’t waste arrows on empty vessels. When you are opposed, rejected, or fought against, remember it is because your anointing is speaking.

How to Handle It as God’s Anointed

  1. Don’t Be Distracted by Envy: Keep serving God like David did, faithfully.
  2. Guard Your Heart: Refuse bitterness; your purity is your shield.
  3. Keep Your Focus on God: Don’t fight flesh and blood; your battle is spiritual (Ephesians 6:12).
  4. Let Opposition Sharpen You: Every attack is an opportunity to grow deeper in God.

Faith Declaration

I am anointed, and though opposition rises, it cannot quench the oil upon my life.

Prayer Focus

Lord, help me see opposition not as a curse, but as confirmation of my calling. Give me wisdom, humility, and courage to walk in my anointing without fear.

Action Step

Take note of areas in your life where you face opposition—at work, in family, or in ministry. Instead of seeing them as setbacks, write them down as signs of your oil and thank God for them.

Reflection Question

Do I allow opposition to weaken my resolve, or do I see it as proof that I carry God’s oil?
