The Prayer for More
Scripture:
“Restore our fortunes, Lord, like streams in the Negev.” – Psalm 126:4
Reflection
Even after experiencing restoration, the psalmist doesn’t stop praying. He acknowledges that while God has already done great things, there is still more to be done. This is the posture of faith: gratitude for what God has already done, and expectation for what He will yet do.
The Negev was a desert region in Israel. Most of the year it was dry and barren. But when seasonal rains came, streams suddenly appeared, and the desert blossomed into life. This image reflects how God can turn dry, lifeless seasons into flourishing ones when His Spirit flows.
Many times, we settle after one breakthrough, thinking the story is complete. But God invites us to keep asking. His supply is endless, His streams never dry, and His blessings are abundant. Yesterday’s testimony is only the beginning of today’s miracle.
Life Application
- Identify one “desert area” of your life—where things feel dry, stagnant, or barren.
- Pray specifically for God’s streams to flow in that area.
- Don’t be afraid to ask God for more—He delights in blessing His children.
Prayer
Father, thank You for the great things You have already done. Yet I know You have more in store for me. Let Your living water flow into every dry place in my life. Restore me like streams in the Negev—turn barrenness into fruitfulness, and dryness into overflowing abundance. Amen.
