Walking in Love

Walking in Love

Theme Scripture:
And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling savour.” — Ephesians 5:2 (KJV)

Exposition

Love is the heartbeat of the Christian life. Without love, all other virtues lose their power. Jesus declared that love is the distinguishing mark of His disciples (John 13:35). To walk in love is to live a life patterned after Christ—selfless, sacrificial, and forgiving.

Love is not just an emotion; it is a decision to act in kindness and compassion, even toward those who do not deserve it. Christ demonstrated the highest form of love when He gave His life for us while we were still sinners (Romans 5:8).

Bitterness, envy, and unforgiveness are stumbling blocks to spiritual growth. But when we choose love, we reflect God’s nature, disarm the enemy, and release healing into our relationships. Walking in love is walking in God, for “God is love” (1 John 4:8).

Lessons to Learn

  1. Love is not optional but a command for every believer.
  2. Christ’s love is the model and standard for us.
  3. Bitterness and unforgiveness hinder our walk with God.
  4. Love heals relationships and restores unity.
  5. Walking in love is walking in the fullness of God.

Actions to Take

  • Consciously forgive anyone who has offended you.
  • Show an act of kindness today, even to someone difficult to love.
  • Meditate daily on 1 Corinthians 13 to grow in the practice of love.
  • Pray for grace to walk in love consistently.
  • Replace every negative thought about others with prayers of blessing over them.
