Episode 11 – The God Who Shows Up

Morning broke heavy with despair. David dragged himself back to the hospital, the torn page still pressed against his heart. He had braced himself for the worst—for the possibility that Mama might not make it through the day.

But when he entered the ward, something unexpected jolted him. Mama was awake. Not just breathing, not just stable—awake, her frail lips curled into a smile.

“David,” she whispered, her voice weak but clear, “I saw Him… in my dream last night. The Lord stood by my bed and said, ‘Daughter, you will not die, but live.’

David’s knees buckled. Tears blurred his vision. It was a small shock—an impossible improvement where decline had seemed certain. The doctors couldn’t explain it. They still pressed for surgery, but her sudden strength baffled them.

That afternoon, while David sat in the waiting area, a stranger approached. An elderly man in simple clothes, carrying a worn leather satchel. His eyes were kind but piercing.

“Are you David Adeyemi?” he asked.

David nodded cautiously.

The man handed him a sealed envelope. “A friend of your father asked me to give you this. He said you’d need it today.”

Confused, David tore it open. His hands trembled—the envelope was stuffed with cash. More than enough to cover the surgery in full.

David’s mouth went dry. His father had died years ago. Who could this friend be? He looked up to ask the man—but the corridor was empty. No trace of him remained.

Funke stared wide-eyed at the money, speechless for once. David clutched the envelope to his chest, tears streaming. The God who had been silent was now thundering in whispers and wonders.

By evening, the balance was paid. The surgery was scheduled. Mama held his hand, her weak smile radiating peace.

“Didn’t I tell you, David?” she said softly. “The God of Abraham provides.”

David’s heart swelled. The near-fall, the silence, the endless night—all of it had led to this moment. God had shown up, not early, not late, but right on time.

And this was only the beginning. The big miracle was about to unfold.
