Episode 16 – The Night of Fire

The revival night came swiftly. The city church hall was filled to the brim—youths from villages, students from campuses, even elders curious about the “young man with the miracle testimony.”

David sat backstage, trembling. His palms were wet, his throat dry. The roar of the choir swelled in the distance, shaking the walls. What if I collapse? What if I forget?

He tried to pray, but fear pressed hard. Just then, Mama’s voice echoed in his memory:
“David, remember the One who saved me. It was not your strength but His.”

The worship ended, and Pastor Emmanuel announced:
“Tonight, God will speak through a vessel many of you least expect. Please welcome Brother David.”

Applause erupted. David’s legs felt like stone as he walked to the pulpit. For a moment, his mind went blank. The faces of a thousand people blurred into a wall of light.

Then—something happened. The torn page from Isaiah he always carried slipped from his Bible and fluttered onto the pulpit. He looked down, and the words leaped up like fire:
“When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned…”

Suddenly, it was as though the room faded, and he was back in that dream—the waiting hall, the windows, the Voice. His fear melted. A holy boldness rose.

He began softly:
“I stand before you not as a preacher, but as one whom God rescued from drowning…”

As he told of Mama’s healing, the storm of despair, the near-fall temptations, and the final miracle, the atmosphere shifted. Some wept openly. Others fell to their knees. But then—something dramatic occurred.

A young man in the back row, known in the community for mocking God, suddenly screamed. He staggered forward, shaking, and collapsed at the altar, crying, “Jesus, forgive me! I mocked Him, but now I know He lives!”

The hall erupted in prayer and worship. Chains were breaking. Hearts were healing. The Spirit was moving like a rushing wind.

David stood stunned, tears rolling. He realized this was bigger than a testimony—it was a calling ignited. The voice of God thundered in his spirit:
“This is only the beginning.”

The fire had fallen.
