Episode 22 – Oil from the Ashes
The Fire That Refines, Not Consumes
The fire had taken everything material, yet it left something invisible — a deeper fire within David.
He no longer preached with excitement; he preached with weight. Each word carried the scent of tears and trust.
The village, once indifferent, now gathered nightly under the open sky. They came barefoot and hungry — not for food, but for truth. The field where the barn once stood became holy ground.
One night, while David prayed with a small group, a woman screamed in the back row. She had been known for years as the “possessed one.” Her husband had abandoned her. The villagers avoided her. But that night, as David laid his hands on her, the same unseen wind that had swept through the revival before came again.
The woman fell to the ground, trembling — and then stillness. Moments later, she rose, eyes clear, voice soft. “He’s gone,” she said simply. “The darkness is gone.”
A collective gasp swept through the crowd. The next day, people poured into the place, carrying the sick, the bound, the hopeless. The revival had moved from local to supernatural.
Even the skeptical pastor from a nearby town came to see. After witnessing the transformations, he took David aside and said, “This kind of authority doesn’t come from talent. It comes from the furnace.”
David smiled faintly. “Yes, the barn burned, but God was purifying oil.”
Soon, the stories spread beyond the region. Reporters came, curious. Pastors invited him to preach. But David was cautious. He remembered the golden door — the lure of fame. So he prayed before every invitation:
“Lord, if You’re not going with me, I will not go.”
And each time, peace guided his steps. The fire had refined him. The ashes had birthed oil.
Yet somewhere in the shadows, whispers rose again — men jealous of his rising influence, plotting quietly. But David didn’t know yet.
The next battle was already forming.
