The Cry for Revival Again
Day 1: The Cry for Revival Again
Scripture
“Will You not revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You?”
— Psalm 85:6 (NKJV)
Exposition
This new month, we shall embark on a topic around revival. This is coming out of God’s call to me to lead and stir up His people to the urgent need to cry for revival again.
Every great move of God begins with a cry. In Psalm 85, the sons of Korah remembered God’s past mercies toward Israel and pleaded for a fresh outpouring of His grace. They had seen times when God turned His wrath into mercy, when captivity was broken, and when His glory covered His people. But now, they were in a dry season, desperately in need of revival.
This verse reminds us that revival is not just a church event—it is a divine visitation that awakens God’s people to holiness, restores joy, and stirs passion for His Kingdom. Revival begins when we recognize our need for God’s touch and cry out for Him to “revive us again.”
Often, our hearts can grow cold due to distractions, sin, or spiritual complacency. We may go through the motions of worship, prayer, and service without the fire of God burning within us. But revival is God’s answer to a hungry heart. It is a divine interruption that restores what has been lost and renews our joy in Him.
Notice the psalmist’s plea: “Revive us again.” This implies that revival is not a one-time experience but something God must do repeatedly in the life of His people. Just as fire needs fresh wood to keep burning, our spirits need continual stirring to remain ablaze for God.
This will be the centre of our devotional for this month and possibly beyond.
