The Fire Must Not Go Out
Day 14: The Fire Must Not Go Out
Theme Scripture
“The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.”
— Leviticus 6:13 (KJV)
Exposition
Every revival begins with fire — the fire of passion, purity, prayer, and the Holy Spirit. But as powerful as fire is, it needs fuel to keep burning. A flame left unattended will die, no matter how bright it once burned.
In the Old Testament, the priests were instructed to keep the fire on the altar continually burning. It was not a one-time event but a daily duty. They had to bring wood every morning and remove the ashes so that the flame would stay alive. Likewise, revival fire in our hearts and churches must be sustained through daily fellowship with God, repentance, obedience, and fresh encounters with His Spirit.
Many believers start strong, but over time, the fire fades. The demands of life, spiritual complacency, or unconfessed sin can extinguish what once burned brightly. True revival is not a momentary spark but a continual flame. It must be guarded, fed, and fanned.
Paul reminded Timothy, “Stir up the gift of God which is in you” (2 Timothy 1:6). The word “stir up” means “fan into flame.” You are the keeper of your altar. God provides the fire, but you must maintain it.
When the fire of God burns continuously in a person, everything around them is transformed—cold hearts are warmed, darkness flees, and souls are ignited for Christ. This is the life of revival: a heart perpetually aflame for God.
