Self-Control: A Fruit of the Spirit
Self-Control: A Fruit of the Spirit
Main Scripture:
Galatians 5:22–23 — “But the fruit of the Spirit is… self-control.”
Devotional
Self-control is not suppression; it is Spirit-governed strength. It is the ability to say no to the flesh so you can say yes to God. In a world driven by impulse, instant gratification, and excess, self-control has become rare — yet it remains essential for spiritual maturity.
Self-control is not about willpower alone. It is the fruit of surrender. When the Spirit leads your inner life, discipline becomes a grace rather than a struggle.
The absence of self-control leads to wasted time, broken focus, moral compromise, and spiritual weakness. But when self-control is active, the inner man grows strong, decisions become clearer, and purpose becomes protected.
The Spirit does not remove desire; He trains desire. He teaches you what to pursue, what to resist, and what to delay. True freedom is not doing whatever you want — it is having the power to choose what is right.
