Do Not Despise Small Beginnings
Sincere Milk Devotional — July 3
Theme: Do Not Despise Small Beginnings
Scripture: Zechariah 4:10
“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.” (NLT)
Reflection
We live in a world that celebrates the spectacular but often overlooks the significance of the small. We admire the finished building but forget the single brick. We applaud the harvest but rarely appreciate the seed.
God, however, delights in beginnings.
When the returned exiles laid the foundation of the temple, it seemed insignificant compared to the grandeur of the former temple. Some wept because it looked too small. Yet God reminded them that He rejoices to see the work begin.
Many believers become discouraged because their spiritual growth seems slow, their ministry appears unnoticed, or their dreams are still in their infancy. But God is not measuring your faithfulness by the size of your accomplishments. He is looking at the sincerity of your obedience.
Every mature believer was once a spiritual infant. Every mighty ministry began with one step of faith. Every answered calling started with someone saying, "Yes, Lord."
Never underestimate what God can do with your daily acts of obedience. The small prayer, the quiet act of kindness, the faithful study of His Word, the unseen sacrifice—these are the seeds from which God grows enduring fruit.
Walk faithfully today. Let God handle the increase.
Application
Thank God for where you are instead of complaining about where you are not.
Commit to one faithful act of obedience today.
Celebrate progress, no matter how small.
Trust God with the process, not just the outcome.
Prayer
Gracious Father, forgive me for comparing my journey with others. Teach me to value the small beginnings You have given me. Help me to remain faithful in little things, knowing that You are working through every act of obedience. May I never lose heart while waiting for the harvest. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Thought for the Day: Small acts of faith, placed in God's hands, produce extraordinary results.
