Walking by Faith, Not by Sight

Sincere Milk Devotional – July 9

Theme: Walking by Faith, Not by Sight

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:7

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” (NKJV)

Reflection

Faith is not the absence of questions; it is the decision to trust God even when we do not have all the answers.

Our natural inclination is to trust what we can see. We feel secure when the path is clear, our finances are stable, our health is strong, and our plans are unfolding as expected. But the Christian life calls us to a higher way of living. It invites us to place our confidence not in visible circumstances but in the unchanging character of God.

Throughout the Scriptures, God's people were often asked to move before they saw the outcome. Abraham left his homeland without knowing his destination. Joshua and the Israelites stepped into the flooded Jordan before its waters parted. Peter walked on water only after he stepped out of the boat at Jesus' invitation.

Faith does not ignore reality; it simply recognizes that God's promises are more certain than our circumstances.

Perhaps today you are facing uncertainty. The road ahead may seem unclear, and the answers you seek may not have arrived. Do not allow what you cannot see to overshadow what God has already spoken. His Word remains true, His promises remain sure, and His presence never leaves those who trust Him.

Walk by faith today. One step of obedience is worth more than a thousand fears about tomorrow.

Application

  • Identify one area where fear has been controlling your decisions.
  • Replace anxious thoughts with God's promises from Scripture.
  • Take one practical step of obedience, even if the outcome is uncertain.
  • Thank God for His faithfulness before you see the answer.

Prayer

Gracious Father, teach me to walk by faith and not by sight. When circumstances tempt me to doubt, remind me that Your promises never fail. Give me courage to obey You even when I cannot see the whole path. Strengthen my heart to trust in Your wisdom, Your timing, and Your unfailing love. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Thought for the Day: Faith is taking the next step because you trust the One who is leading you.

Midnight Reflections – July 9

When You Cannot See the Next Step

Life rarely unfolds exactly as we imagine.

There are seasons when the future appears hidden behind a curtain of uncertainty. We long for clarity, yet God often provides only enough light for the next step.

Perhaps that is because He wants us to know Him more than He wants us to know the future.

If we could see every detail of tomorrow, we might rely more on our plans than on God's presence. Instead, He invites us into a relationship of daily dependence, where each step becomes an opportunity to trust Him afresh.

Tonight, think back over your life. How many times has God carried you through situations that once seemed impossible? At the time, you may not have understood His ways, but looking back, you can trace His faithfulness.

The same God who guided you then is guiding you now.

As you prepare to rest, release your need to control every outcome. Place your unknown tomorrow into the hands of the God who already lives there.

Closing Prayer

Lord, I surrender my fears about the future to You. Help me to trust You when I cannot see the road ahead. Give me peace in uncertainty, courage in obedience, and confidence in Your unfailing guidance. As I sleep tonight, let my heart rest in the assurance that You are directing my steps. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Closing Thought: Faith does not require seeing the whole staircase—it simply trusts God enough to take the next step.
