Redeemed and Forgiven
SINCERE MILK
October Series: Rooted in Christ
Day 3 — Redeemed and Forgiven
📖 Ephesians 1:7–10
“In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.” — Ephesians 1:7
REFLECTION
There are two things every human heart desperately needs: freedom from the past and hope for the future.
Paul tells us that both are found in Christ.
“Through his blood we have redemption.”
To redeem something means to recover it by paying a price. In Christ, God did not simply overlook our sin. He dealt with it at the cross. Jesus paid the price so that we could be released from the guilt and bondage of sin.
Then Paul adds: “the forgiveness of sins.”
What a beautiful expression.
God's forgiveness means that our failures do not have to become our identity. The mistakes of yesterday do not have the final word over tomorrow.
There are people who have received God's forgiveness but continue to punish themselves for things God has already forgiven. They carry yesterday's guilt into today's life.
But grace says: Christ has paid the price.
This does not mean that sin is insignificant. It means that the sacrifice of Christ is sufficient.
Paul says this forgiveness comes “according to the riches of his grace.” God does not forgive reluctantly, as though He has to be persuaded to show mercy. His grace is abundant.
And God's plan is even bigger than our individual forgiveness. In Christ, God is bringing all things together under Christ's rule. Redemption is part of a larger divine purpose—a world ultimately reconciled under the lordship of Jesus.
So today, don't keep living as a prisoner of a past Christ died to redeem.
Repent where you need to repent. Make things right where you can. Learn from your failures.
But then receive grace and move forward.
You are not defined by your worst moment.
You are redeemed by Christ.
🌙 MIDNIGHT CRY — Stop Carrying What Christ Has Carried
There are burdens we were never meant to carry into another day.
The burden of guilt.
The burden of shame.
The burden of regret.
The burden of constantly asking, “What if I had done things differently?”
Tonight, take that burden to the cross.
You cannot change yesterday, but you can surrender yesterday to the One who holds tomorrow.
Perhaps you have forgiven others but have never learned to receive God's forgiveness for yourself.
Perhaps you keep reopening a chapter that God has already closed.
Tonight, hear the gospel again:
Christ paid the price.
You don't have to purchase your own freedom.
You don't have to earn God's love.
You don't have to remain imprisoned by your past.
Grace has spoken.
Midnight Cry:
Lord Jesus, I bring You my guilt, my failures, my regrets, and the things I wish I could change. Thank You for paying the price for my redemption. Help me receive Your forgiveness and walk forward without returning to the prison You have already opened.
TODAY'S TRUTH
My past may explain where I have been, but it does not have to determine where Christ is taking me.
🙏 PRAYER
Lord Jesus, thank You for redeeming me through Your sacrifice and forgiving my sins according to the riches of Your grace. Help me to repent sincerely, receive Your forgiveness completely, and refuse to live under the condemnation of my past. Give me courage to move forward in the freedom You have purchased for me. Amen.
TODAY'S STEP
Identify one regret or failure that you have been carrying unnecessarily. Bring it honestly before God in prayer.
Then say aloud:
“I am redeemed by Christ. I receive His forgiveness, and I will walk forward in His grace.”
Tonight, remember:
The cross is not merely where Jesus died; it is where the debt of sin was paid.
