  September 6 — When God Is Your Refuge 📖 Scripture Reading: Isaiah 10:20–27 Key Verse: “And it shall come to pass in that day that the remnant of Israel… will lean on the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.” — Isaiah 10:20 (NKJV) Devotional Reflection There is a difference between knowing about God and leaning on God . Isaiah speaks of a remnant of God's people who would no longer depend on the nations around them or on their own strength. Instead, they would “lean on the Lord, the Holy One of Israel.” To lean means to place your weight on something because you trust that it will hold you. Think about what happens when you are physically tired. You look for something strong enough to support you. You don't lean against something because you think it might collapse. You lean because you believe it will hold your weight. God invites us to do the same with Him. There are seasons when our own strength is simply not enough.     September 5 — Light in the Darkness 📖 Scripture Reading: Isaiah 9:1–7 Key Verse: “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined.” — Isaiah 9:2 (NKJV) Devotional Reflection Darkness can make it difficult to see what lies ahead. There are seasons when life feels uncertain, when prayers seem unanswered, when circumstances become overwhelming, and when the future appears hidden from our view. Yet Isaiah gives us a beautiful message of hope: “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light.” Isaiah was speaking to people who knew hardship, fear, oppression, and uncertainty. Their circumstances were not immediately perfect, but God promised that darkness would not have the final word. The light would come. And Isaiah's prophecy points us to Jesus Christ.   September 4 — God With Us 📖 Scripture Reading: Isaiah 7:1–17 Key Verse: “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.” — Isaiah 7:14 (NKJV) Devotional Reflection Fear has a way of making our problems appear bigger than our God. Isaiah 7 introduces us to a difficult moment in Judah's history. King Ahaz was frightened because enemy armies had joined together against Jerusalem. The situation looked threatening, and the king's heart—and the hearts of his people—were shaken. But God sent Isaiah with a message: “Take heed, and be quiet; do not fear or be fainthearted.” (Isaiah 7:4) God was reminding Ahaz that circumstances do not determine God's sovereignty. Send me.’” — Isaiah 6:8 (NKJV) Devotional Reflection Isaiah chapter 6 gives us one of the most powerful encounters with God recorded in Scripture. Isaiah saw the Lord seated upon His throne—high and lifted up—while heavenly beings declared: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!” Before Isaiah could respond to God's call, he first had to encounter God's holiness. In that moment, Isaiah became deeply aware of his own weakness and sinfulness. He cried: “Woe is me, for I am undone!” This is what happens when we truly encounter God.
