SINCERE MILK October Series: Rooted in Christ Day 5 — The Eyes of Your Heart 📖 Ephesians 1:15–23 “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling.” — Ephesians 1:18 REFLECTION Paul had heard about the faith of the Ephesian believers and their love for God's people. His response was not merely to congratulate them—it was to pray for them . And what does he pray? That God would give them greater knowledge. This is important because Christianity is not simply about having faith; it is also about growing in our understanding of what we have believed . Paul prays that “the eyes of your understanding” would be enlightened. There are things the natural eye cannot see. You can look at a difficult situation and see only a problem. But spiritual understanding can see an opportunity for God. You can look at yourself and see weakness. But God can help you see the hope of His calling,. You can look at the church and see ord...

SINCERE MILK October Series: Rooted in Christ — Sealed by the Spirit 📖 Ephesians 1:11–14 “In whom also we have obtained an inheritance… who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession.” — Ephesians 1:11, 14 REFLECTION One of the greatest fears in life is uncertainty. Will things work out? Will God's promises really come to pass? Will I remain faithful? What does the future hold? Paul gives believers a powerful answer: God has not left us without assurance. In Christ, we have received an inheritance. But God has also given us something that assures us of what is still to come—the Holy Spirit . Paul says that when we believed, we were “sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.” A seal represents ownership, authenticity, and security. The Holy Spirit is God's mark upon those who belong to Him. Think about that. Your relationship with God is not sustained merely by your emotions. There will be days when you feel spiritually...

SINCERE MILK October Series: Rooted in Christ Day 3 — Redeemed and Forgiven 📖 Ephesians 1:7–10 “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.” — Ephesians 1:7 REFLECTION There are two things every human heart desperately needs: freedom from the past and hope for the future. Paul tells us that both are found in Christ. “Through his blood we have redemption.” To redeem something means to recover it by paying a price. In Christ, God did not simply overlook our sin. He dealt with it at the cross. Jesus paid the price so that we could be released from the guilt and bondage of sin. Then Paul adds: “the forgiveness of sins.” What a beautiful expression. God's forgiveness means that our failures do not have to become our identity. The mistakes of yesterday do not have the final word over tomorrow. There are people who have received God's forgiveness but continue to punish themselves for things God has alre...

Sincere Milk — October 2 Rooted in Christ: Living the Life We Have Been Given  — Blessed Beyond Measure 📖 Ephesians 1:3–6 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.” — Ephesians 1:3 REFLECTION Paul begins the heart of Ephesians with praise. Before he asks believers to change their behaviour, he wants them to understand what they already possess in Christ . Notice the language: “every spiritual blessing.” Paul is not saying that Christians will have everything they want. He is pointing to something deeper. In Christ, we have been given blessings that cannot be measured by money, possessions, social status, or earthly success. We have redemption. We have forgiveness. We have adoption. We have a new identity. We have access to God. We have an eternal inheritance. And these blessings are not rewards we earned through perfect behaviour. They flow from God's grace. V...

SINCERE MILK October Devotional Series: Rooted in Christ Day 1 — Called by Grace Bible Reading: Ephesians 1:1–2 “Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To God’s holy people in Ephesus, the faithful in Christ Jesus.” — Ephesians 1:1 REFLECTION Paul begins his letter by reminding the believers who they are and, just as importantly, whose they are. He introduces himself as an apostle of Christ Jesus “by the will of God.” His calling was not simply the result of personal ambition, human recognition, or his own plans. God had called him and given him a purpose. Then Paul addresses the believers as “God’s holy people” and “the faithful in Christ Jesus.” This is significant. Before Paul tells them what they should do, he reminds them who they are. The Christian life begins with identity before activity. We often measure ourselves by our achievements, failures, possessions, titles, relationships, or the opinions of others. But our deepest identity is found i...

September 30 —  I Create New Heavens and a New Earth 📖 Scripture Reading: Isaiah 65:17–25 Key Verse: “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth.” — Isaiah 65:17 (NKJV) Devotional Reflection Isaiah's journey ends with a beautiful promise: “I create new heavens and a new earth.” The God who called His people to repentance, carried them through difficulty, redeemed them, and gave them hope now reveals His promise of complete renewal. God is not finished with His people. There may be seasons when life feels broken, prayers seem delayed, or the future looks uncertain. But our present circumstances do not have the final word. God is still creating. Isaiah describes a future filled with joy, peace, fruitfulness, and God's blessing. It reminds us that God's ultimate purpose is not destruction but restoration. So do not let today's difficulties destroy your hope for tomorrow. The same God who carried you through yesterday is already present in your tomor...

September 29 —  Come, All You Who Are Thirsty 📖 Scripture Reading: Isaiah 55:1–13 Key Verse: “Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat.” — Isaiah 55:1 (NKJV) Devotional Reflection There is an invitation in Isaiah 55 that reaches across generations: “Come.” God calls the thirsty to the waters and the hungry to His table. Even those who have nothing to offer are invited to receive freely. It is a beautiful picture of grace. The human heart is constantly searching for something that will satisfy it. We pursue success, possessions, recognition, relationships, education, security, and achievement. Yet even after obtaining many of these things, something inside us can remain thirsty. Why? Because there is a thirst that material things cannot satisfy and a hunger that human applause cannot feed. Our deepest need is ultimately spiritual. And God says: “Come to the waters.” Notice that He does not say, “Fix yours...
